Institute for Energy Studies of Repsol

The biggest challenge of this job was to accomplish the perfect coordination of eight teams located in different continents (Europe and America) and yet keep the project right on track.

This facility is part of the new Technology Centre for Repsol located in the A5 motorway. Both CTR and ISE are part of the same complex and their facades are resolved in a very similar manner, through the use of limestone and a structural two-sided curtain wall, enhancing in this way the horizontality of the building.

The ISE is composed by two blocks of classrooms articulated by the monolithic volume of the Aula Magna. In between the aula magna volume and the classroom blocks are where all the pedestrian accesses are located. A campus-like area is created in between the ISE and CTR buildings. The staircases of the CTR and its eight conic exhaust chimney together with the shape of the ISE's aula magna configure the powerful image of the complex.

The main challenge for AXXO regarding this job was the coordination of all the technical teams involved ,including the design coordination among the American and the Spanish teams. At the same time, many Repsol's departments were involved so the Needs Program had to be very carefully developed and the design had to respond very precisely to it.
